What to expect in Counselling

Individual sessions are 60 minutes in length. Following on from our in-depth consultation, we’ll work together to further explore your goals and needs. You will get to experience the type and style of therapy further supporting you in making change.

Before your first appointment, I will have a 15-minute phone conversation with you to obtain essential information about you. From there, an appointment is booked and confirmed and an in-depth consultation will take place. In this session, I will collect information on what you are coming to therapy for and goals and expectations. It’s a good opportunity to ask questions and for us to get to know each other.

Length of continuing therapy will vary and is different and unique to each client dependent on needs. It is recommended to have minimum 4 sessions either weekly or fortnightly. After the 4 sessions we can review what awareness and insights you have experienced during this time and discuss further sessions.

Dependent on your needs and situation whether you need medium to long term therapy to experience lasting change and see results it is suggested a commitment of fortnightly sessions with a minimum of 4 months and 12 months ongoing for lasting change.

Sometimes things come up, if you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointment, 24 hours notice is required. I have a firm 24-hour cancellation policy, if you cancel your session in less than 24-hours you will need to pay the full fee of the session.

If coming by train – take the Mulga Road exit and you will be on the Oatley West side of the railway station and it’s about a 6-minute walk up a slight hill. The room is in a Yoga Studio called Connect the Dots and is nestled in-between two restaurants named ‘Kobito’ and ‘Postcards from Napoli’. Walk down a short corridor and you will see door number 1.

If coming by car – there is plenty of parking out the front of the address that is timed parking 1 or 2 hours.

Sessions can be conducted online via Zoom. To get the most out of your therapy session make plans to be in a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed. Ensure you have some water with you and are comfortable. The zoom link will be emailed to you on the day of your appointment.

Monday and Tuesday 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Newtown

Wednesday and Thursday 1.00pm to 6.00pm

Evening sessions can be arranged by appointment only.

Card Reader

Medicare, Private Health Insurance and Payment options

The psychotherapy service I offer is not covered under the Medicare rebate scheme. The Medicare rebate scheme have a gap fee which is what I charge, this gap fee charge is common with other non-rebatable therapists. If you are wanting a mental health plan, please see your GP as I am unable to assist with mental health plans.
Rebates are covered through Medibank Private only. You can claim for your session through Medibank Private. Please let me know to discuss process of claiming.
Payments are made at the end of each session. Credit card is accepted, direct debit payment needs to be arranged prior to the session.
